Leonard A. Tronnes, age 93, of Oregon, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Agrace Hospice, Janesville, WI. He was born in October 18, 1923 in Evansville, WI, the son of Sten and Ruby (West) Tronnes.
Len was a farmer and lifelong resident in the Oregon area. He then went to work for the State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. During WW II, he joined the Navy and served in the Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW of Oregon. Upon retirement, he and his friend, Pearl Starker, enjoyed traveling, gardening and attending polka fests.
He is survived by two sisters, Avis Lawrenz, Janesville, WI, LaVena “Dee” Clark, Brodhead; numerous nieces and nephews; three children, Daryl Tronnes, Doreen Fobes and Debra (Robert) Schmidt; a granddaughter, Mackenzie (Keith) Metcalf; two great-grandsons, Colton and Caleb. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, five sisters, a grandson, Erik Lawry, and his friend, Pearl M. Starker, in 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 7, 2017, at the D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, WI, with Krystal Goodger officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon, WI.
