Christ "Chris" Kneubuehl

Brodhead, WI – Christ Kneubuehl, age 90, passed away peacefully while at his home on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Christ (known as Chris) Emil Kneubuehl was born March 24, 1933 in Spring Grove Township in Green County, Wisconsin, to Christ and Esther (Maass) Kneubuehl in the living quarters of their cheese factory. He grew up helping in his parent’s cheese factory until his father passed away suddenly in 1945 at the age of 44. His mother sold the cheese factory and along with his two younger siblings, Lorraine and Richard (Dick), moved to Decatur outside of Brodhead where Chris attended school with his siblings. The following year, Chris’s mother came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in Gospel meetings that were being held in the area and Chris trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior reading a gospel tract: God’s Way of Salvation. Chris would say that getting saved was the most important event in his life and he proved it by living for the Lord throughout his lifetime. Chris worked during school to help support his younger brother and sister. He graduated from Brodhead High School in 1951. In 1956, he met the love of his life, Georgina O’Donnell in Beloit, Wisconsin. Shortly thereafter, Chris served in the U.S. Army based in Stuttgart, Germany. During that time he corresponded via letters with Georgina for 18 months. Upon returning to the USA, Chris and Georgina were married, November 21, 1958 and started their marital life in Brodhead, WI. Chris and Georgina raised five wonderful children. In the summer they travelled all over the USA and Canada in their station wagon to see the country. Chris was a devoted husband and father. He attended and enjoyed watching his children’s events. Throughout his life he helped all his children and relatives through life transitions and their various projects. His zeal for DIY was appreciated by everyone. Chris was in fellowship at the Brodhead Gospel Hall. He preached the Gospel to many men, women, and children, even hosting children’s meetings in his own home. He prayed nightly for the salvation of his family and the temporal and eternal welfare of many, trusting they would all come to the knowledge of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. Chris was a 45 year employee of General Motors in Janesville, WI and retired in 1995. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and would often sit out on his back patio with his wife Georgina, enjoying the sunshine. They read the Bible together regularly and were content to go through daily life as long as they had each other. Chris recently celebrated his 90th birthday, crediting his wife for being his lifelong partner of 64 years. He was known affectionately by his grandchildren for his warm hugs and many jokes. Chris always listened with the intent of hearing and understanding precisely what you said. He will be sorely missed by his children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who made him proud and whose many portraits filled his wallet. Chris is survived by his wife, Georgina; 4 children, Tina (Allan) Burr of Platteville, WI, Thomas (Kristen) Kneubuehl of Madison, WI, Heidi Fry of Waterford, WI and Paul (Julie) Kneubuehl of Cottage Grove, WI; one sister, Lorraine Larsen of Platteville, WI; grandchildren, Kristy, Joshua, Phillip, Brooke, Abigail, Sophia, Madeline, Cecilia, Benjamin, Elliana, Jackson, Ze’Niyah, Caden, Jazmyne, Jason, Jordan, Christian, Gianna, Luke, Wyatt, Cole, Chandler, Kaylee, Mackenzie, Logan, Madeleine and Lydia and a great granddaughter, Azalea. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Christ; a brother, Richard “Dick” and a half sister, Betty Vetterli. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family in his memory. A visitation will be held at the DL Newcomer Funeral in Brodhead on Monday, May 22, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral services will also be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A visitation will also be on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
