Gerald "Jerry" Duane Reed

Brodhead/Tomahawk - Gerald �Jerry� Duane Reed, age 73, of Brodhead, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 9, 2011, at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Jerry was battling cancer and suffered an attack at Miller Park on Thursday evening. He was born on October 3, 1937 in Monroe, WI, the son of Kenneth and Florence (Broge) Reed. He married Bevedine May Schlittler on May 3, 1960 in LaSalle, IL. She passed away on May 8, 1999. Jerry graduated from Juda High School in 1955. He had been a cheese maker and worked for General Motors of Janesville, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Army Reserve, U.A.W. Local 95, and the Northern Trails Snowmobile Club of Tomahawk, WI. He enjoyed softball and when he wasn�t coaching, he was attending his children�s and grandchildren�s sports activities. He enjoyed driving his convertible, the Brewers, the Packers, hunting and snowmobiling. He is survived by his his four children, Rick (Nanette) Reed and Tammy (David Cook) Reed, both of Brodhead, Geri (Richard Wisch) Reed, Arlington, TX, Patti (Sam) Mazzarisi, Orfordville, WI, grandchildren, April Barnes, Ashley (Derek) Sullivan, Mandy Graves, Vinny and Mitchell Mazzarisi, Lucas, Ethan and Austin Reed, two great-grandchildren, Rianna and Katie Sullivan, his fiance�, Anita Gerber, Tomahawk and her family, Mark (Janeen) Gerber, his children Brandon and Cole, Laura (Randy Norem) Gerber, her children, John, Alica, and Kailey Gerber, Mary Gerber (Chad) Prieve and her children, Jacob, Jason, and Jarid Gerber, two brothers, Gordon (JoAnn) Reed, Janesville, Keith (Nonie) Reed, New Lisbon, WI, a sister, Nancy (Eugene) Salzwedel, Monroe, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother Gail, sisters-in-law Denice Anderson, Claris Reed, and Myrna Schlittler, brothers-in-law Jac and Dr. Allen Schlittler, in-laws, Jac and Myrtle Schlittler, and a nephew, Greg Salzwedel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor Kendall Schlittler officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund will be established.
