Geraldine I. Johnson, age 83, of Brodhead, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She was born on December 15, 1932 in Green County, WI, the daughter or Vern and Erma (Cline) Smith. She married Doral Johnson on September 23, 1949 in Argyle, WI. He passed away on July 14, 2006. Geraldine and her husband owned and operated a bar and restaurant in Monroe for many years and also had started the Monroe Cab Co. She loved working in her yard, cooking, watching NASCAR, politics, the Packers and Brewers, and having company for coffee. Geraldine is survived by a daughter; five grandchildren, including Shelly (Troy) Gerber, Brodhead; nine great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edith Milestone, Evelyn Tschanz, Maralyn (Don) Martin, all of Monroe, Virginia Ryser, New Glarus; a sister-in-law, Verna Smith, Monroe; and her dog, Angel. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Helen Smith, and two brothers, Delbert and Glenn �Butch�. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m., Saturday, until time of services at the funeral home.
