Lela Mae (Riese) Caple

July 27, 1918 - August 21, 2013

Lela M. Caple, age 95, of Brodhead, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. She was born on July 27, 1918 in Wayne Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Martin and Emma (Voegeli) Riese. Lela attended school in the South Wayne area, was baptized and confirmed at St. John�s Church in Monroe, WI. The family moved from the South Wayne area to west of Brodhead in 1932. In 1936 she married Ralph Miller and they farmed in Sylvester Township until his death in 1953. Lela then moved to Brodhead with her family and worked at the Brodhead Pickle Factory, APCO Mfg., and the United Cheese Co. She then married Bernard Caple. He passed away in 1998. Lela attended the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead. She loved being around family, music, especially yodeling, and sewing. She is survived by a son, Robert (Dora) Miller, Evansville, WI; daughters, Marian Bliss, Janesville, WI, Dorothy Wunschel, Brooklyn, WI, Elizabeth Byrd, Gratiot, WI; daughter-in-law, Vickie Miller, Brodhead; stepsons, Richard (Vickie) Caple, Beloit, WI, Arthur Caple, Minneapolis, MN; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a son, Harvey Miller, three brothers, sons-in-law, Gerald Bliss and Lawrence Wunchel, and a great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 26, 2013, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Brodhead, with Pastor Peder Johanson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD.�
