Margaret S. Bong

Due to threatening weather, the funeral for Margaret (Feb. 2, 2011) has been canceled. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Margaret S. Bong, age 86, of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Woods Crossing Nursing Home, Brodhead. She was born on July 3, 1924 in Ashton, WI, the daughter of Christian and Anna (Henning) Dahmen. She married Norbert Bong on May 22, 1947. He passed away on July 4, 1972. Margaret farmed with her husband Norbert in the surrounding area until his death in 1972. She then moved to Evansville, WI and worked at the Wyler School for Boys, Evansville Nursing Home, and the Evansville Library. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, crocheting, gardening, and baking. She is survived by her children, Bernie Bong, Huron, OH, Tom (Tammy) Bong, Waterloo, WI, Chris (Loran) Rosheisen, Norbert Bong Jr., Linda (Rick) Neuenschwander, Carla (Tim) Creuzer, all of Brodhead, Ginnie (Larry) Wilt, Reston, VA, Janet Schulz (Jeff), Lantana, FL, Lois (Terry) Hamill, Verona, WI, Marvin Bong, Shullsburg, WI, Donna (Tim) Hanna, Mt. Joy, PA, Paul Bong, Cary, NC, sisters, Georgia Bruheim, Etta Wipperfurth, both of Sauk, WI, a brother, Francis Dahmen, Orlando, FL, eleven grandchildren, Christopher, Melissa, Brandon, Adriane, Elissa, Alexis, Nikki, Sara, Richard, Lisa, Megan, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Leo Dahmen, a sister, Nora Matz, a sister-in-law, Barbara Dahmen, and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Bong. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Brodhead, with Father Michael Klarer presiding. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., February 1, 2011, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD. Burial will be held at a later date.
