Mildred "Millie" A. Jones Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Brodhead - Mildred �Millie� A. Jones, age 92, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the New Glarus Home, New Glarus, WI, where she had resided since 2005. She was born on October 27, 1919 in Rock County, WI, the daughter of Albert and Minnie Amanda (Olson) Paulson. She married John �Jack� Jones on February 15, 1941 at the Luther Valley Lutheran Church, rural Beloit. Jack passed away on June 22, 2008. Millie graduated from Orfordville High School in 1937. She was employed at Freeman Shoes, Beloit, APCO Mfg., Brodhead, Bahr�s Variety Stores in Brodhead and Monroe. She was a lifelong member of Luther Valley Lutheran Church where she was the junior choir director for many years, a member of the ladies bible study groups, and loved her quilting group. After retiring, she filled her time enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren�s many school music and sporting events. She took great pride in all of their accomplishments. Mildred is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Dean) Walters, Brodhead; grandchildren, Chris (Shonna) Jones, DeeAnn (Allen) Hegi, Natalie (Jeff) Ponkauskas, Dena (Lloyd) McKee, and Nick (Mindy) Walters; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, Jordan and Trey Jones, Leah and Bryce Hegi, Amanda and Derrick Ponkauskas, Jessica McKee, and Dakota and Brant Walters; three great great-grandchildren; a sister, Marian Jensen, Janesville; an aunt, Velda Olson, Brodhead; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Ronald Jones, a daughter-in-law, Linda (Keen) Jones, in-laws, a brother in infancy, and a brother-in-law, John Jensen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Luther Valley Lutheran Church, Route 4, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Mary Froiland officiating. Burial will be in East Luther Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the D.L.NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD. A memorial fund will be established. The family would like to thank the staff of the New Glarus Home for their love and care of Millie �Grandma Jones� for these past years. Your love and support could not have been more comforting.
