Obituary

Brodhead/Albany – Darrel Ivan King, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on November 25, 2020.

Darrel was born on January 23, 1944 in Monroe, WI, the son of Ivan and Elsie (Runkle) King.  Darrel graduated from Albany High School in 1963.  He married his wife of 55 years, Sharon Zilliox on October 9, 1965 at the Footville Church of Christ.

Darrel and his wife farmed for many years off county highway F between Albany and Brodhead.  After farming, Darrel worked for many years at Marlin Lumber in Janesville.  He was a member of the Albany Lions Club, loved farming and bowling, watching the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay packers, but especially loved doing puzzles.

Darrel is survived by his wife, Sharon of Brodhead; 3 children, Richard King of Albany, Kevin (Rene) King of Durand, WI and Robin Mohns (Darrell Christmas) of Freeport, IL; 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Sean) Mohns-Scanlan of McFarland, Megan King of Monroe, Samuel Mohns of San Diego and Bailey Mohns of Orfordville, Andrew, Allison and Abigail Pfaff of Durand, WI and one sister, Lucille (Randy) Whiteaker of Janesville.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents.

Per Darrel’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.  The DL Newcomer Funeral Home in Brodhead is assisting the family.
