Larry G. Buxton, age 84, of Albany, Wi, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at his home. He was born on May 28, 1936 in Lake View, IA, the son of Richard and Leta (Mason) Buxton. He married LaDonna Noble on August 17, 1957 in Stewartville, MN. He graduated from Vail High School in Iowa and was on the state championship basketball team in 1955. Larry had served in the U.S. Marine Corps in California.
Larry farmed in Minnesota until 1963, then moved to Silver Lake, WI. He worked for Hucker and Sons in Lake Villa, IL, as a mechanic and service manager for almost 30 years. He retired in 1998 and moved to Albany, WI. He was involved with farmers markets and sharpened chain saws. He also loved cutting wood and gardening.
He is survived by his wife LaDonna; two sons, Steve (Kenda) Buxton, Twin Lakes, WI, Randy (Debbie) Buxton, Albany, WI; and a daughter Melodee (Nick) Murphy, Twin Lakes, WI; five grandchildren, Gary (Christine), Craig (Brittney), Ben (Kayla), Mandy (Jesse) Lande, Amber (Andy) Powell; ten great-grandchildren, Destiny, Ryder, Cooper, Braylen, Lidiya, Eisley, McCoy, Rylee, Joel, Isiah, and one on the way; and a brother Warren, of Columbia, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, sister, Virginia Derby, and two brothers, Arden and Roger.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2020, at the D.L. Newcomer Funeral Home, Brodhead, WI, with Rev. Bill Wienke officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Albany, WI. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
