Elm Grove, WI – Van Richard Marsh, 84, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 into eternal life peacefully.
He was born in Mineral Point, WI on December 1, 1935 the son of the late Van Arthur and Ella Ruth (Lawver) Marsh. Van was a graduate of Mineral Point High School and later MSOE.
Van was a member of the Air Force Reserves and worked for Delco Electronics in Oak Creek. Through Delco he was able to be a part of the team that helped design the guidance system for NASA’s Apollo projects. Workers from the former Delco Oak Creek plant worked with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Apollo 11 in the 1960’s. The Delco team also designed the Carousel IV navigation system used in airlines. Van owned and operated Amity Furniture Stripping in Butler, WI. Van was also a very active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, building homes for these in need in his spare time. Van was a great, hard-working man, and an even greater father and grandfather.
Van is survived by his sons, Jeff Marsh and Michael Marsh; grandchildren, Madison Marsh, Lexis (Jameson) Radke, Elle Marsh and Taggart Marsh. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Van was preceded in death by his sisters, Harriet Zielinski and Jane Harker.
Due to recent restrictions on mass gatherings, a small private gathering will be held with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.
